A Thief in the Night

Thessalonians 5:1-7 (New International Version)

1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night

Pope Benedict XVI begins final day as pontiff

VATICAN CITY Pope Benedict XVI is beginning a final quiet day as pontiff, meeting with his cardinals before flying off into retirement.

Benedict addressed the gathered cardinals in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace, thanking the cardinals again for their help and saying that in the turnout for his final general audience the previous day, "we saw the spirit of Christ yesterday. The Church will rise again and be full of souls, the Church will grow." His statement was brief, after which he gave a blessing.

Benedict pledged his "unconditional reverence and obedience" to the man who becomes his successor.

He then set about personally greeting and thanking his closest advisers and each of the cardinals in attendance.

Shortly before 5 p.m. (11 a.m. Eastern), Benedict will leave the palace for the last time as pope, be driven the short distance to the helipad on the top of the hill in the Vatican gardens and fly by helicopter to the papal retreat at Castel Gandolfo south of Rome.

CBS News will air a Special Report with live coverage of Benedict's flight to Castel Gandolfo, and CBSNews.com will stream the entire event live, until the pope retreats behind the castle doors.

There, at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. Eastern) — the exact moment Benedict's resignation goes into effect — the doors of the palazzo will close and the Swiss Guards in attendance will go off duty, their service protecting the pope now finished.

Pope Benedict's style
On Wednesday, Benedict gave his final general audience in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, addressing the faithful as pontiff for one of the last times, and CBS News correspondent Allen Pizzey says the normally shy pope made the most of it -- pausing to bless about a half dozen babies thrust toward him on the Popemobile even before taking the altar.

Benedict thanked the estimated 150,000 thousand people gathered before him, and said he was "fully aware" of the seriousness and novelty of the situation his retirement had presented the Catholic world.

Many of the cardinals -- the so-called princes of the Church -- who will soon be tasked with choosing Benedict's successor were in the square to hear him speak.

Pizzey described the job that his replacement will inherit as being like a ship tossed on stormy seas, a clear acknowledgement of the difficulties he has faced during his near-eight-year papacy. He went so far as to say that, at times, it seemed like "the Lord was sleeping."

From the point when the doors of Castel Gandolfo close behind him on Thursday, the Vatican says Pope Benedict XVI -- who will be known in his retirement as Pope Emeritus -- will essentially shrink away into a quiet life of prayer and meditation.

The Last Pope Prediction of St. Malachy, Irvin Baxter Presenting

I have listened to Irvin Baxter for quite a while and have alot of confidence in his teachings.

In this video, he is discussing the prophecy of St. Malachy, who was a Catholic that was born around 1049, I think. He was reportedly given a vision by God of the 112 popes who would rule from his time until the end of the age. Long story short, Malachy's predictions are accurate to a startling degree. As you know, the pope announced his resignation today. Accordingly to Malachy, the next pope will be the last.

This minister is now passed away, but is very knowledgeable about end times and prophecy.

His message here is about government tracking everything from the chips in the clothes you wear, phones, internet searches, cameras, etc. and how the anti-christ will use them in the end days.  Check out Project Echelon, which started after WWII.  It is very disturbing that we have no privacy.

Prophecy from Jewish Rabbi 2016

I’m not endorsing any of these prophesies, but test them against the Bible.

God Works for the Good of Those Who Love Him

We often perceive God's answers to be slow in arriving or we’re disappointed with His reply; we may even begin to doubt if God even hears our prayers. Underlying all our prayers must be the firm belief that “in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him” (Romans 8:28). God always has a plan, and His plan is very, very good! We must trust that His answer to our prayers will meet our true need, and fulfill our deepest desire, much better than we could ever imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Our loving Father always hears our prayers; and He always answers. His answer to prayer is either yes, no, or wait…and sometimes He answers with, “Here my child, I have something much better for you.”

God’s view of our needs (and His view of the entire world) is much higher and grander than our own. We generally see our need as the solution to some short term problem, but our true need is always to grow by drawing closer and loving Him more. Let’s take our eyes off the crutches we think will “fix” our problem and look instead to the One who is calling, to the One who patiently says, “Trust Me and come into My presence as you arise and walk!”

Love One Another

Philippians 4;7

Asking God to Come Into Your Life

Becoming a Christian requires that you commit the rest of your life to God, to do what He asks of you and to live in accordance with His principles. This decision is not something to be taken lightly. It requires sacrifice and a total reorientation of your life around God rather than yourself. As Jesus said:

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23).

If you feel you are ready to make this commitment, you can do so right now by telling God you are sorry for your past mistakes, putting your trust in Him and asking Him to make you into the person He created you to be. This step involves faith. You probably still have a number of unanswered questions at this point, but you must be willing to make the decision based on what you know right now and trust God to fill in the details later.

The precise words you use to commit yourself to God are not important. He knows the intentions of your heart. Your prayer can be as simple as "Help!" or it can focus on an issue that is specific to your situation. If you are unsure of what to pray, use the following sample prayers to get started:

Jesus, I want to know You. I want You to come into my life. I'm sorry for the things I've done that have broken my relationship with God. Thank You for dying on the cross so that this relationship could be made right. I believe You are the only One who can do this. Only You can give me the power to change and become the person You created me to be. Thank You for forgiving my past mistakes and for giving me eternal life with God. I give my life to You. Please do with it as You wish. Amen.

or

Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
